An average of 55 children visited our Shelter per day, this month. 3 new children have been admitted into the shelter. Non-formal and formal classes were held regularly.
During free time the children watched TV, played with puzzle, did colouring and drawing. We have recently started two slum schools, one at the main bus terminal and the other at Campal. Around a number of 15 to 18 children have been attending the slum schools.
On 18th December, our children attended the Christmas party at the Church square organised by the Panjim Parish Youth. Children had a very good time taking part in various games, many of our children sang songs. Snacks and cold drinks were served besides that gifts and prizes were also given.
Around 30 children and 4 staff attended the El Shaddai Christmas Party at Shanti Niketan, children performed a beautiful traditional dance for the event.
Reena and Chandrakant bagged the "Child of the month" prize for December.
Jacinta is mainly involved in non-formal classes and also helps children in their formal studies. Merlyn and Yvonne look after the formal studies and are involved in slum schools on an alternate day basis. Lokesh is involved in field work as well as helping in slum schools. Kirti Gaunkar (Dadima) visited daily and helped us in various ways.
There have been some local sponsors who have donated different things. Rahul donated stationery and sweets for the children on the occasion of his twin children’s birthday. Dadima sponsored cold drinks, Mukta Pearls shop donated jelebis, Shanu Communication sponsored biscuits and Raj Enterprises sponsored samosas for our children’s Christmas Party which was held on the 21st December. Amanda Pisani and David donated Rs. 300/-. Joanne and Douglas donated £40.
We thank the Almighty God for the abundant blessings that were showered during this month as well as through the year 2009. We hope that the Year 2010 will be a successful and a blessed one.
