An average of 56 children attended the Shelter per day this month. There have been two new children, Saheli (6 yrs) Preaish (5 yrs) who are now coming at the Shelter.

We have planned to start our 'Mobile Clinic Project' Dr. Natalie Gaskell & Mitali Patel will be pioneering the project. After visiting the Health Centre Officer Dr. Sachin Govekar, who has extended his full support towards the project. Dr. Gaskell & Patel are handling the work towards the project.
Awareness on Malaria was conducted at the Shelter. Blood test for Malaria was also conducted for the children by the Sub-Health centre of Calangute.
We had plenty of visitors this month, most of them have donated in cash or kind, They were Brenda Bainbrigge & family, Barbara & Michael Cain, Sharon Woodcock, Gail Hill, Seija Pujari, Peter and his wife Elsie Mountfad, J. Hannan along with his wife Kate, Liz Avloni, Karina Westerlund and family. They came and spent time with the children. They were happy to see their cheerful and smiling faces.
Mandy Walden invited the children at Johnny’s Shack at Baga beach so that they could spend an afternoon at the beach playing in the sand and enjoying the refreshments sponsored by her. Mandy said that they were a bunch of well behaved children, something very rare in their country.
Thomas Muniz & his wife were very much interested in the 'Mobile Clinic' project and extended their full support towards it.
The In-house Christmas party was held on 24th December. Karen & Gordon Egerton sponsored the toys and snacks for the children. Bill Immobilien sponsored the Christmas cake. The entire party was organised by Shannappa & Altaf two of our talented boys. They planned and organized the games for the children, helped Santa Claus in distributing the prizes and served the guests with soft drinks. Jim & Elaine were present for the party and Jim played as Santa Clause.
The bigger boys performed some magic tricks, taught by Bob Sleeman while the girls put up a beautiful dance performance for the guests. Renee helped us in making the event a success. The children were very excited to see Matthew & Anitamother for the party.
We decided to share an extra box of cake with the elders staying in the 'St. Joseph Home for the Aged'. We also spoke to Sr. Pulkeria who was very pleased with the offering. She appreciated our work in rescuing desperate children.
Few children were medically attended. Afsana Shigavi, is under treatment for her skin infection and is receiving her 4 months course of medication. Her mother has to leave for their village for her delivery, and will be coming back only after 4 months.
Altaf who had fractured his hand is doing quite well and is improving. His Doctor has told to come for a check-up after 2 yrs.
Nagamma had one of her teeth extracted for the fitting of her bracers. The work is now complete but she has to go for her regular check-ups.
Avesh Karni had an appointment with the doctor in order to do his follow-up. The doctor did the routine check-up and had told to come with an X-ray for the next appointment.
As the year 2009 has ended we hope that the New year 2010 will be a promising and a prosperous year for us.
