Thali (Plate) Making Contest
On 10th February 2011 the lower class students participated in the 'Thali Making' competition. All the students of Nursery, KG 1, KG 2 & Challengers had taken part in it. It was really a very nice experience watching the tiny hands arranging their Thalies with dishes like rice, vegetables, fish, meat, salad, papad, puri and sweet dishes. For all these they used different materials like news papers, fresh leaves, thermocol, paints etc. The best 2 Thalies from each class were re-warded.
Spelling Bee Competition
We had the Class-wise Spelling Bee Competition for all the higher classes on the 17th of February. The students were asked to make and spell the words out of the letters presented to them. It was truly a brain storming exercise for them but they managed to make the most of it.
Adventure trekking trip to Anjunem Dam and Santrem.
On 11th February 2011, our school organized a trekking expedition for the higher grade students. A total of 116 students and staff joined the trek. The busses took off from the school and left for the destination at 8.30am. They first halted at the famous Anjunem Dam at 10.15am. After sightseeing of the dam they left for Valpoi. Thereafter they drove 12 kms to the interior village of Santrem. After refreshing themselves with snacks and water, they began the trek at 12noon.
First they crossed a bridge which was partly wooden. It was exciting to see the whole group crossing the bridge. They then descended into the stream which was full of slippery rocks and pebbles. At every moment of the journey we had the staff and students slipping and falling in the waters of the stream. It was quite risky for the elderly staff and volunteers who accompanied us, but nevertheless the whole team managed to reach the end point by 4.45pm. The children enjoyed swimming in the waters that were collected along the way. After lunch, they had enough time to race back to their starting point. On the way back they came through the forest. They managed to cross the forest before it became very dark. At 7.45pm they re-assembled at the main point where the busses were parked and took the journey home by 8pm. The whole journey was really tiring but the children enjoyed the trekking. They will have sweet memories of the day for a long time to go.
Trip to Bondla.
On 18th February 2011, our school organized a trip to Bondla for the lower grade students. A total of 132 students and staff were present for the trip. They reached the Bondla wildlife sanctuary at 11am and after having refreshment the children made their way to the zoo. The smaller children enjoyed watching different types of animals
that were caged in the zoo. The teachers explained to them the different nature of the animals. At 1.15pm the team had their lunch break and after a short nap they played various games with the children. After a tiring day they made their way back to the school and reached back safely at 5.15pm. All enjoyed the trip to the Bondla Zoo. It was a rewarding experience for many of the smaller children who had not been to the zoo before.
