Update
• Apna Ghar was visited at regular intervals.
• Discussion with the Principal of law College regarding the awareness sessions along with the Legal Aid cell.
• Meeting with the Principal of Polytechnic College regarding admission for Diploma course for a boy who visited SCAN-India.
• Conducted a search for five children who had run away from Apna Ghar. Emidio visited Apna Ghar with the Secretary and Director of Women and Child Development to assess the situation.
Visits:
• Johnny (Victory House In-charge) visited SCAN office to submit the certificates of a boy.
• Ms Sabina Martin had visited the office to meet Emidio for a case.
Meetings:
• ‘Unity’ meeting was conducted on 4th August 2010 at the office. The meeting was organized by Mr Mathew Kurian; persons who attended were Ms Farida Dias, Sr Prudencia Vaz, & Reggie Gomes. Ms Sabina Martin and Ms Afros also attended the meeting
Training:
• A Final training for Apna Ghar Staff on 10th 12th and 13th of August 2010. Ms Farida Dias and Ms Prachi Khandepaker are the resource persons for the training.
• Culmination of the training for the staff of Apna Ghar was conducted on 10th, 12th & 13th of August 2010 at our office. The resource persons were Ms. Farida D. Dias and Ms. Prachi Khandeparkar (member of JJB gave talk on how to control reactions when children misbehave and how this could change the behavior of child.)
The staff was grateful that we had the training for them they all said that they had gained from the sessions. They said that the trainings had helped them personally and professionally. They informed us that a lot of changes were made in Apna Ghar after the trainings started, so they felt that they were being heard and that made them feel good. They all felt the need for the interaction to be continued. The feedback will be compiled and sent along with a report to the concerned department.
Upcoming Campaign:
The Awareness sessions were finalized with the Principal of Salgaocar Law College and the In-charges of the legal aid cells regarding the collaborative sessions along with the Legal Aid cell of their college. The first session was scheduled to start in the first week of September and end in March 2011. It has been decided to cancel the programme as we are not able to get a sponsor for the same
Outings:
• On 24th August Outings for the toddlers to the children’s park at Caranzalem, Panjim.
• On 25th August Movie for the children of Apna Ghar.
