The month of January started off with the second term examinations. The students got back from their Christmas vacations and had two days of revision and then answered the second term examinations the following week. During the examinations most of the activities were stopped as students would spend that time in revisions. After the examinations there was a magical show and a few days later a musical concert in the school auditorium. There was a new art and craft teacher who came to help in that department, so in the afternoon the students gather to bring out their creativeness by making cards, jewellery, paintings, etc.

There were a number of football tournaments held in this month, and the students in the football team did a good job due to their dedication and hard work along with the help of their coaches.

26th January being the Republic day of India was a holiday for both students and teachers. The students were excited about their cricket match on that day against different teams of El Shaddai. Every afternoon after class the students were divided into groups for various activities. Some students go for Martial Arts classes that are held once a week while some go for Art and craft class, jewellery making, tailoring, flower making, football practices, painting, card making or remedial classes.

ACTIVITIES:

  • MAGIC SHOW: On the 12th January the staff and students of Shanti Niketan had a magic show in the school auditorium from 2pm to 3pm. The performers were Mauricio Boogieloop and Morten Deurell. They both kept the audience captivated by their illusions. Mauricio first displayed his magic skills by juggling some red balls that would travel from one hand to another oblivious to the viewer’s eyes as to how they would move from one place to another. He then illustrated the art of life on his magic cord. It was amazing to watch as the cord would suddenly break into pieces and then rejoin as one. Then Morten kept the audience under his spell as he performed his illusion break-dance. The children were all excited as both the performers managed to make an impact on them through their magic skills.

  • MUSICAL CONCERT: On Monday, 16th Jan 2012 a team from the gospel band from USA visited the school to present their performance based on gospel songs. The various items presented were action songs, dances and songs performed in sign languages. The children got together in the act and danced to the tunes of all the songs and dances. It was a great fulfilling event, and all those who attended it enjoyed every moment.

  • VOLUNTEERS: This month there were volunteers Kyriaki, Julianne, Lotta and Amanda who helped out in the school. Their help was very much appreciated.
