August month brought a sigh of relief for the children as they could come outdoors to play various games. Two inter-house tournaments were held this month. Independence Day celebration was held in the school on 16th August. Besides we had the Elocution Competition and the Reading Competition being organized. Apart from sports and competitions, we had many Extra Curricular Activities conducted for the interested children. It was also a month where children began their preparation for the upcoming 1st Term Examination. Mr Valentine Ezeugo, a trained professional footballer, has joined us as a coach to develop our children in sports.
Extra Curricular Activities:
Painting Workshop: Artist Deviprasad is all set to start his painting workshops. Currently he is training 7 senior children, who have taken the responsibility to learn the trade of Art from Mr Dev and in turn to train their junior counterparts in painting. Mr Dev has been frequently meeting the senior trainers every Thursday. Interested children have made two paintings each to be presented to Mr Deviprasad.
Art & Crafts Workshops: We had volunteers Mr Rohit Jinger and Ms Sam Jackson who took creative arts classes for selected students. It was an excellent training as students were able to learn the art of making beautiful necklaces and other fancy items from coconut shells and other waste materials. Students will now continue to make these items as part of their extra-curricular activities. These products will be on sale at the flea market later this year.
Dance classes: Mrs Priyanka Rane started her dance classes on the 14th of August. She has 25 students who have joined the batch, which trains up 2 hours every Saturday.
Elocution Competition: On 6th August we had the house wise elocution competition. Juniors and seniors participated from each of the four houses. Topics covered were from garbage issue, conservation of forests, conservation of water, reading habits etc. Miss Sunanda our head girl did the entire compeering with ease. In between entertainment was provided by small children by way of songs and jokes. The winning house was Saturn with 35 points; Neptune got the second spot with 33 points; Jupiter house was 3rd with 30 points and Mars was standing last with 28 points.
Reading Competition: Reading competition was organized on the 11th of August. The competition was held in the respective classes from Grade I onwards. The four groups competed among each other. The reading topic was given on the spot. The final combined results were as follows:- Neptune house stood first, followed by Mars and than by Saturn house.
Independence Day Celebrations: Each of the four houses presented a National Integration song. Master Aditya Kamble and Master Shivraj Jaiswal gave patriotic speeches in English and Hindi respectively to mark the occasion. The compeering was done by Master Sanju Haibathi. Finally the assembly was concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
SPORTS
Table Tennis Competition: Inter house table tennis competition was organized on the 9th and 10th of August. Representatives of all four houses had practiced very hard to participate in the competition. The boys took part in both the singles and doubles event. Jupiter house took the first place. Saturn house came second and was followed by Mars in the third place. Football Competition: Inter house football competition was organized on the 19th and 20th of August. Jupiter house was adjudged the winner, followed by Neptune house in the second place and Mars house in the third place.
