Shanti Niketan School (September Update)
Submitted by admin on Fri, 10/01/2010 - 15:20
This month children focused their entire energy in preparing and answering their first term exam of 2010-2011. Well! After the exams they deserved a break and that was provided to them during the vacations which lasted for 10 days. The teachers also had a week’s break which they needed to refresh them and come prepared to start the new term. After a much needed break the school restarted on the 20th of September. Some new concepts are being implemented in teaching, which focus on child centred development. We wish our children the very best for the forthcoming term.
Extra Curricular Activities:
The tailoring unit is gaining momentum as the season begins in Goa. Very soon the fundraising activities will begin. New patterns of dresses, cards and bags will be on display. Hoping to see you’ll visit our stall in the flea market this season too.
Dance classes: Mrs Priyanka Rane has continued to train the girl students in dancing. Everyone enjoys the teaching and they make sure that they are on time for the classes. We look forward to seeing them perform in various competitions in the near future.
Cultural Day: Preparations are in full swing to set the stage for the much anticipated Cultural day programme. The groups are given time out in the afternoon sessions for practices. The event is being postponed to the 30th of September which will be held in the school auditorium.
Sports: The excitement begins: Football is a game much loved all over the world. In Goa too football is enjoyed by young and old alike. Our El Shaddai children not only enjoy watching the game but they enjoy playing it at every given opportunity. It was a dream come true when a professional footballer, Mr. Valentine Ezeugo, joined us as a coach this August. Valentine is a gifted footballer and has donned the colours of the top football clubs in India like Dempo Sporting Club, etc. in addition to being the Head Coach for Goa United Football Academy for five years. He is currently training the players on the nuances of soccer and is shaping the team into a formidable force.

Many more of the children have the desire to join the coaching classes but are unable to do so at the moment due to lack of sufficient football kits. El-Shaddai has a dream to see a competent football team blossoming from within. We would therefore like to appeal to all our football lovers to donate generously towards a cause that is dear to our children and will be remembered for a long time to come.

We thank all our sponsors and well-wishers for their valuable contribution in making this school what it is.
