Many of the children in our Homes are with us for a long time and have grown into young men and women. These children were picked off the streets or given our care when some of them were just toddlers. We have seen them go through school and now they are into Higher secondary schools, Colleges and training institutions. They now live in cottages where they are learning to live independently while still under the care of El Shaddai. They do their own cooking and cleaning and even manage their own budget and shopping. They learn about space sharing and living together without the rules and regulation of an institution.
Presently, we have 3 cottages for our older children. Colshaw & Harvest cottages in Saligao were inaugurated in 2006 and stand next to the Victory House. Currently about 8 school going boys stay here. Rainbow’s End at Assagao is the Home to 4 of our bigger girls who are working as well as doing higher studies and doing various training courses. One can find Rainbow’s End right behind Rainbow House and this was inaugurated in 2007. Another named “Laurel cottage” also in Assagao was opened in June 2007. The boys who reside here go for college, vocational training and higher education at the Shanti Niketan School. The boys from this cottage also help out the Shekinah House which is located close by. This cottage is located in a beautiful village surrounded trees & shrubs.
Rainbow’s End & Laurel cottage are the two cottages that help the children get ready for life in normal society. It is one step closer to independence. From these cottages they will take their first stride into society as responsible citizens of the nation.
