Our Projects

ChildRescue, run by a group of individuals fired with a zeal for ensuring equal opportunities for all children, regardless of race, caste, religion, community or economic status, has been working in various states in India, striving to implement the Child Rights Act 2003/05 for orphans, Street Children and children coming from economically desperate conditions.

We run Day Care and Night Shelters for children on the streets. This is our first level of interaction where we provide a safe haven for the children who work on the streets during the day and usually sleep out in the open. With our Shelters, children can find an open door where they will get meals, washing facilities, medicines and a place to sleep.

Our Homes for Street Children and orphans ensure a safe environment where children can live along with their peers and have a good education where they are   housed and cared for full-time. Children in our Homes receive a roof over their heads, food and clothing. More importantly, our staff are constantly on hand to offer help, guidance and most importantly - love.

Shanti Niketan, our Non Formal School enables the children to  take the national examinations giving them opportunities in the job market, vocational training, College or University.

Through our Community Outreach programmes, we work directly with communities in villages or city slums. We seek to provide sustainable resources to make them self-reliant. We organise medical camps to teach health, hygiene and nutrition.  We also  help women become self-reliant by encouraging them to start their own small community enterprises.  In villages we provide safe drinking water by boring Wells, for   by building Community Centres to give education for children and to help the women with income-generating projects. we also give poor families goats.. We believe, by ensuring self-sufficient villages, these communities will not feel compelled to migrate to Goa and city slums.

Through SCAN-India (Stop Child Abuse Now), the Advocacy & Intervention arm of ChildRescue, we provide sustainable, comprehensive services for children who are abused, children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with the law.

El Shaddai Charitable Trust was first registered in Goa, India and the UK in 1997 by Anita Edgar and Matthew Kurian to help Orphans, Slum and Street Children vulnerable to abuse.   We now have over 3000 children in our care in many States of India and are a Registered Charity in UK, Holland, Norway and USA.
